Here you will find examples of my past
work in Costume Design.
Red Flame
This Bedlah was done in deep red velvet. With flame shaped
appliqués which were wired to mold or not around the breast on
the bra and to stand up above the belt. Accented with AB rhinestones
and large red stones. Long red beaded fringe completed the Bedlah.
Watermelon Star Watermelon Star was a custom made costume. It was made to
the dancer's specifications (see approved sketch above). She
wanted an old Hollywood feel to it. She insisted on the purple stars.
Bra is a gathered chiffon over a red bra with hand beaded 2" purple
fringe and long fringe and star in the center. Belt is also gathered
red chiffon over a red base. 4" purple and gold fringe alternate
around the belt. The fringe was designed to accentuate shimmies.
The fastener is a 4 " oval, which allows for easy adjustments. It
features 2 stars and long gold fringe. The skirt is attached to the
belt and is 2 layers of red chiffon in full circles for great spins. Sleeves
are a wide bell of red chiffon ending in wide gold elastic accent with a
purple star.
Iris Bedlah This bedlah was done in purple iris fringe applied at a diagonal
line to flatter and trimmed in silver sequin trim. The base was a
purple iris sequin fabric and black velvet. 4" fringe was used on
the bra with 6" fringe in the center. The belt was done in 6" fringe
with 12" fringe around the bottom. It made a very heavy belt, but
worth the weight for the fantastic effect of shimmies and hip movements.
Antique Assuit This was an antique Assuit Shawl that a customer asked me to turn
into a two panel skirt. I lined the entire skirt and made a waistband,
all to protect the delicate fabric. There was enough left over to
also cover a bra for her.
ATS or American Tribal Style set made for Costuming Article and later
sold
Purple Dress This is an A line purple dress with accents of glitter, with a
double godet in the back for fullness. To accent the sparkle of the
glitter I used yards and yards of AB rhinestone trim. The front neckline
was outlined and ended in a lavender stone to give the look of a necklace.
Clusters of silver fringe was added in a V line (very flattering)
to accentuate hip movements.
Faux Assuit Bra This one was made out of scraps of the faux assuit I used to make
faux assuit body stockings out of. Kuchi pieces came from a
necklace I took a part.
Black and Gold Bedlah This one was made from vintage black and gold metallic fabric from
the 60's. Hand beaded gold sequin accents and black iris fringe complete
the look.
Tie Dye velvet and Black Iris beads This was made as an example for my Boobology 101 workshop in
Oregon. The bra was covered in front of the students as part of the
2 hour workshop.
After being used as a finished example in following workshops it was sold.
